On our travels again

A last minute decision and some late booked holiday has meant that we have had the opportunity to escape Hampshire for the weekend, so where better to head than the South West, and in particular Cornwall.

So at 5:30am this morning we left a very wet Southampton. In fact i was awake at 3:30am with the first flash of lightening, and over the next hour or so we were treated to thunder storm that brought us thunder, lightening, and some serious rain!

However, as tradition dictates, we hit the road early and stopped at what has become our traditional breakfast stop:

Following on from our stop at the Little Chef in Axminster, i should add that the breakfast scores relatively low on the points scale, but its location works for us, and they do serve hash browns! We then head for Exeter.

Exeter has become another regular stop when we travel to Cornwall, it could have something to do with a certain retail outlet

However, it is also a good stop, with a good shopping centre, and a Starbucks, where Poppy decided to perform this morning. As you can see from the below photo, she is doing her 'Stevie Wonder' impression!

Following on from our stop in Exeter, we headed straight to Newquay and arrived around lunchtime, and the holiday could start in ernest with a lunch, and of course a drink to go with it!

At finally, we made it to the cottages. Having stayed here a number of time now, we know what to expect, however, we are still impressed with how the cottages are kept. We are staying in cottage Heurs 9 this time, a 3 bedroom cottage on two levels, and it is so well kept.

We also think we are going to be lucky with the weather, having left very heavy rain this morning, and heavy showers for a lot of the journey, we had a sunset here this evening, and the forecast is looking promising for tomorrow and Sunday, so fingers crossed!

I shall leave you, for now, with a traditional Butler picture!
